"The man who made the twenties roar! Now, after 45 years, his true story can be told!"
The story is of the rise and fall of the infamous Chicago gangster Al Capone and the control he exhibited over the city during the prohibition years. Starting in 1918, he hangs out with other gangs until he is found by gangsters Johnny Torrio (Harry Guardino) and Frankie Yale (John Cassavetes). Then he pushes his way into the Chicago Underworld, battling mobsters Hymie Weiss and George "Bugs" Moran, and romancing flapper Iris Crawford (Susan Blakely). Sylvester Stallone plays his ambitious bodyguard Frank "The Enforcer" Nitti.
Later, in the wake of the St. Valentine's Day Massacre and tax evasion, he is sent to jail, mainly for the later infraction, where he falls sick from syphilis and dies in 1947.
