Not what I was expecting
I saw the movie until the end but to be honest I got bored the story did not speak to me. I had a bigger expectation for the movie. But there were some funny scenes. But I didn't think it was a really good movie.
Very different from what I had expected. The trailer and/or the cast had made me believe it was a comedy - that was VERY far from the case and took some getting used to. Unfortunately I found it very bleak and half-way depressing. Especially as I couldn't really figure out what the purpose was! The plot seemed... irrelevant. A shame, because I was very intrigued by the premise.
A strange beast, which starts off as a sprightly satire of the American Dream, before shifting into something more melancholy and self-serious. I wasn't entirely convinced by the swerve in tone, and found the protagonist a little bland and the decadent Euro-trash neighbours (Christoph Waltz and Udo Kier) a little clichéd, but there are plenty of ideas.
