Imagine the plot of Galaxy Quest with the tone (and budget) of Garth Marenghi's Darkplace. Enjoyable enough if you like smirking at lovingly accurate recreations of cheesy '80s tv shows, and with a familiar English style of darkness and tragedy as the main character sinks into the depths of self-delusion and obscurity. There are probably fewer laughs than there should be, and the assumption seems to be that the premise is entertaining enough on its own. For the most part it is, and the film is short enough that the joke doesn't wear too thin.
Washed-up actor Richard Thorncroft, star of cheesy '80s TV drama "Mindhorn", is called back to the Isle of Man to help apprehend a crazed serial killer who thinks that his favourite TV character is actually real.
