At first I was really unimpressed - why did Mullins still have a job? Threatening to injure an FBI agent is surely grounds for termination, as is the way she treated her boss! That really bothered me, because even though I know it was done in order to introduce her character, I thought it OOT and unrealistic.
Fortunately the movie improved after that, and even though I had a number of "Did that really happen?" moments, as a whole, I rather enjoyed the movie. I DON'T think how it could support a sequel though!
I could not make it through this film. Melissa McCarthy's utter troll of a character, who thinks she's being funny by prattling on vilely (for a nails-on-a-chalkboard effect), and frankly needs to be locked up, made the movie insufferable. I love both lead actresses, but this was just awful.
laughed like crazy. not a thinkpiece, but if you need to laugh, go see this movie. lots of interesting actors playing small parts, including Jane Curtin, Joey McIntyre (!), Bill Burr, Tony Hale, etc.
FBI Special Agent Sarah Ashburn (Sandra Bullock) and Detective Shannon Mullins (Melissa McCarthy) must take down a Russian mobster.
