I’m in love with Humphrey Bogart. Watching Casablanca didn’t do me in, but The Maltese Falcon certainly did. There’s just something about this movie that clicks for me, and I’m pretty sure that, once again, it’s the acting. You don’t get more perfect than Bogart. Even the way he lights his damn cigarettes is perfect. His voice, his mannerisms, and everything about him. I like the plot of this movie, too, which is a nice change. I’ve got a little thing for film noir, especially when it’s a tad bit ridiculous, mixed with some grit, and some entertaining characters, and this film manages to satisfy all of those cravings.
